Portrait of an artist - Natalie Rowe

Today's Art Fayre artist is Natalie Rowe of Apple Hill, Ontario.

Natalie is a graphic designer and musician by training. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1987 with a Bachelor of Music degree, and George Brown College in 1990 with an Honours Design Diploma. She has been running her own design business, Grinning Gecko Design, since 1994.

Usually Natalie makes rug-hooked wall-hangings for Art Fayre, but this year she's returned to her first love, coloured-pencil drawing...

She has also produced some mixed-media pieces using pen & ink and acrylic paint on translucent vellum, hand-stitched with embroidery floss to a needle-felted background.

Beaker Dreams of the Ladies

More of her coloured-pencil work can be seen in the children's book Katie of the Sonoran Desert.

Natalie and the 17 other participating artists look forward to seeing you at Art Fayre this Saturday and Sunday at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan, Ontario. The museum is just an hour west of Montreal, an hour east of Ottawa, and about an hour north of the Cornwall, Ontario border crossing. Please join us for a weekend of fantastic art, and help support the museum in its 50th anniversary year!
